Prepare for Competition
Thursday, December 27
Today, girls who can make it (it wasn't made mandatory) are gathering to put together the competition piece. Once we return to school, there are only three weeks left to prepare by learning the piece and mastering it!
This information was posted on the third paragraph of the "Dances" post... Please remember at practice the last week that I had asked girls if they needed a lot of notice or if 24 hours would be ok. The only people who said it mattered were already going to be gone over break. Communication is key. If in doubt, text or call your coaches.
Next practice during break will be NEXT Thursday, January 3 from 2-5. We will decide at that time whether to also have a practice on Friday, January 4th.
If you are unable to make it, that is ok, we will put it all together with placements, on our first practice day back at school, Monday, January 7 at 2:30 PM
WE WILL BE having practice on game days, although they may be shorter (TBD). See the post for game days to see which days those are.

Dance & Half-times
The first music we are learning a dance to is Train's "50 Ways to Say Goodbye". If you bring a jump drive/thumb drive, you can get the music.
We are going to be collaboratively creating this first dance. There will be elements where the coaches will have the team try things and they may work or may not work. There will be opportunities for girls to come up with an 8-16 count that may be used for the dance.
We will meeting one of the days after Christmas and before New Years Eve to begin creating our dance for competition in February. We will contact you as soon as we know for sure.

The Cheerleaders in Action
This section will include pictures, blurbs about what is going on in practice, and any other "news" about the team.
Cheerleader Expectations
These are the expectations universal for all the members of EHS Basketball Cheer Squad:
1. You must bring a water bottle with you to practice. It is vital that you rehydrate during quick breaks.
2. Unless otherwise told, you are to be on your feet during practice. Sitting during "down time" is not
acceptable. Keeping heart rate up is important to your overall development.
3. On hard workout days, it is expected that you will stretch again later in the evening AND take a hot
shower. These are vital to your body's overall recovery. Since we are working on CORE
strengthening and overall stamina and flexibility, there will be a lot of days of intense workout.
4. Ideally, you will not eat junk food before practice. Since it is impossible to monitor your junk food
intake, junk food will not be seen by coaches at any time before practice. Eating this right before
practice is like putting rocks in your gas tank. Eating a piece of fruit or a sandwich, etc. before
practice is good in limited amounts.
5. You will not practice any stunting without first getting the "ok" by a coach. Safety is a main priority
for everyone.
6. Fundraisers: Everyone is expected to fundraise as it will go towards items and events for the whole
team.
7. You must have ten practices before you can participate in a game.
